The problem

AGM Technologies provides vehicle telematics solutions to the global fleet and insurance markets. The AGM team developed a suite of telematics devices for usage-based insurance (UBI), allowing users’ vehicle insurance premiums to be calculated based on how they drive through accurately capturing data on drivers’ behaviour.

They sought our help in supporting and building upon their existing cloud-based platform, which receives, stores and analyses the data from their devices.

The solution

We strengthened AGM’s existing system and extended its features and functionality, as well as delivering ongoing support.

The platform now includes powerful capabilities that can be deployed at scale, such as the ability to view journeys and events, including hard acceleration, braking, cornering and speeding, and to generate crash reports. It can also calculate a driver score for a particular vehicle or monitor driver behaviour across a unit of vehicles.

Through the platform, AGM’s clients can push firmware and configuration updates, reboot or recalibrate devices, and activate or deactivate SIMs within those devices. They can also manage users within the platform, adding privileges, restricting access to certain information and viewing an audit history of commands.

The results

Along with taking over the management of AGM’s entire cloud-based platform, we provided business intelligence and developed and integrated new products into the system. Through our work, we also reduced AGM’s monthly AWS bills by 80%.
